Quench your thirst

It's a hott summer day, getting prepared for the Jr High lesson we have for that day.
Bible- check.
Notebook- check.
Pens- check.
Cup- check.
Water- check.

Walking up to fireside, where normally senior high would have their class, we got to use it for the morning for our class. All the children shuffled to their seats to sit next to their best friends. I take the cup, and ask if anyone was thirsty. Over half the class raised their hands. I walk to the water fountain, and fill the cup full of ice. cold. water. Everyone is begging me to give THEM the cup of refreshing water. I then do something unexpected. I walk outside, grab a little tiny rock off the ground, that was covered in a tiny bit of dirt. I take it inside and secretly drop the microscopic piece of rock/dirt into the cup. No big deal. I had then asked again who was thirsty. I walked over to someone who's hand was raised, and handed them the cup. They had looked in, and saw the small amount of dirt, and refused the water. I took it back, and gave it to the next willing student. One after one, they declined the perfect cup of water- which had just a tad bit of dirt. I had asked why? I mean, 99% of the water was clean! It was just that tiny piece of dirt that had prevented any of the students from drinking the ice cold water on the blistering summer day.

I asked them what's it matter!? Just drink the good part of the water. The dirt is only at the bottom of the cup! No one wanted to take a sip.

The water was clearly dirty, no matter how big, or how small the piece of yuck was.

Carol (my partner) had then asked who wanted a piece of gum. Once again , every student raised their hands. She saw lots of takers, so she pulled a big wad of chewed up gum out of her mouth. She had asked again who wanted gum. No one looked eager, as they did before. The gum was used. Who wants ABC gum?

We related this lecture back to purity of our bodies to the Jr Highers. Not only can we refer it back to purity, but also life in general. This lesson refers back to our lives and how we are a beautiful clean, cold, refreshing cup of water.

But sometimes people or things come into our lives, and we don't make the best choices, and our water starts to get dirty because of negative influences. Sometimes, even the smallest thing that we do, can put dirt into our cup.

We become undesirable even when the slightest bit of nastiness gets put into our water.

Don't put the dirt into your cup, no matter how small. Remain clean. That's the only type of water people want. I don't want a cup of dirty water... do you?

Stay yummy and desirable :)

Don't forget:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
